The luxurious Hotel del Salto opened in 1928. Main objective was to welcome the wealthy travelers who were visiting the Tequendama Falls area. This Tequendama Falls is about 30 km southwest of Bogotá, the capital city of Colombia. This area is huge tourist attraction spot. The Tequendama Falls is 157 metre (515 feet) tall waterfall and the place is also surround by full of natural scenes. Thousands of tourists who visit the area to admire the Tequendama Fall, also stop at another nearby landmark as well, the abandoned Hotel del
Salto.
This Hotel is situated opposite
to the waterfall and on the edge of the cliff, it provided a
breathtaking view to its guests. This Hotel now become an abandoned place and people think it is haunted. The main reason which makes the hotel abandoned and haunted is,
Bogotá river had become contaminated, for this tourists gradually lost their
interest to the area. Also many people in the
past chose that spot to commit suicide, made others believe that the
hotel is haunted. The hotel finally closed down in the early 90's
and was left abandoned ever since.
